Research on High-Performance Research Centres

This research strand explores dimensions of knowledge creation, management and transfer processes within high performance research centres.

Since the late 1990s, Government has invested heavily in developing expertise in science and technology resulting in the rapid expansion of funded research centres within the Irish HE sector. However, such initiatives are relatively new and their potential to deliver their promise is not yet fully known. The Learning, Innovation and Knowledge (LInK) team will examine the ways in which knowledge is created, managed and transferred within HEI research centres with the aim of informing practice in both existing and future centres.

It examines the specific features and drivers of innovation (treated as a ‘multi-dimensional’ process) within the expanding media services sectors. This work is conducted by the COMTEC research cluster within SIM which has 18 years experience of research on new ICT-based innovation processes.
